What our crew brings and how fragile items are packed
When we pack, the crew brings boxes in several sizes, packing paper, bubble wrap, heavy-duty tape and specialty protection. The moving rate also includes shrink wrap, moving blankets and bubble wrap for fragile items.
Fragile items, such as glassware and ceramics, are individually wrapped, cushioned in cartons and labelled. They are loaded so they come off the truck first.
For antiques, artwork or other high-value items, tell us in advance. We can then plan appropriate packing and cover.
If you would rather pack some things yourself, the packing materials has boxes, tape and wrap. You can order online or pick up, and reusable options are available.
What affects the cost of packers and movers in Auckland
These factors change the time and effort involved:

Moving is charged as hours × hourly rate + callout fee. The published local rates are:

The callout fee is $60–90 depending on truck size. The minimum booking is two hours including the callout fee, then 15-minute increments after the first hour. An extra mover is $40/hr. Fuel, mileage and road user charges are included on local moves. Oversized items may cost extra, so tell us in advance.

Six ways packing goes wrong, and how to avoid each
Kitchens and fragile items usually take the longest because each piece is wrapped separately. The crew packs room by room, and we give a time estimate at the assessment. Decide early whether we pack everything or only the slow rooms.
A delivery window is an estimate, and move-in dates can shift. Auckland Kiwi Movers gives a window before the move and can coordinate key handovers. Add a buffer day, or use moving and storage at the destination.
Overfilled boxes split, and mixed boxes are hard to unpack. Our crew packs room by room. If you pack, keep one room per box, label the destination room and put heavy items in smaller boxes.
Loose screws and fittings are easy to lose in a move. We disassemble and reassemble furniture. Keep fittings together with their item and tell us which pieces must come apart.
Documents and medication are easy to pack by mistake. Keep valuables, documents and medication with you. Pack an essentials box and label it.
Unlabelled boxes slow everything down. Unpacking support is available on request. Label boxes by destination room so the crew can place them correctly.
