A local move is any move between two addresses within the Auckland region, from a one-bedroom rental to a family home or office. Auckland Kiwi Movers charges these by the hour. Moves to another city are quoted separately as long distance jobs.
How are local moves charged?
Local moves are charged as hours multiplied by the hourly rate, plus a callout fee. Auckland Kiwi Movers sets a 2-hour minimum, including the callout, then bills in 15-minute increments after the first hour. Fuel, mileage and road user charges are included.
Which parts of Auckland do you cover?
Auckland Kiwi Movers covers local moves across the whole Auckland region. That includes the CBD, the North Shore, Manukau and South Auckland, West Auckland and East Auckland. Moves can start and finish in different parts of the region.

How a local move is charged
Hours × hourly rate + callout fee
- Hourly rate: covers two movers and a truck. It depends on truck size and is listed on the rates page.
- Callout fee: $60–80 for a 20 m³ truck, $80–90 for 30 m³, and $90 for 40 m³.
- Minimum: 2 hours, including the callout fee.
- After the first hour: time runs in 15-minute increments.
- Extra mover: $40 per hour.
- Oversized items: pianos, double-door fridges, spa pools and pool tables may cost extra. Tell us in advance.
- Fuel, mileage and road user charges: included on local moves.
On a local job the clock covers four things:
- Loading at the pickup address
- The drive between the two addresses
- Unloading at the drop-off address
- Access, such as stairs, parking distance and lift waits
You can cut time by having boxes sealed, doors clear and keys ready at both ends.

- Quote with both addresses. Send the pickup and drop-off, home or job size, and any parking or lift details.
- Plan access and timing. We plan access points, parking, lift bookings and timing with you.
- Wrap and protect. Furniture is wrapped and secured before it leaves.
- Load and transport. Two movers load the truck and drive to your new address.
- Unload and place. We unload, reassemble furniture and place items where you want them.

What happens: you pay for a full crew for a few items, or a small truck turns up for a big home. Why: truck size and job size were not matched.
